Gliding Surface Technology adapts plane bearing design to different profiles and configurations. In its most basic form, a slide consists of a carriage and rail, but some slides have an optional screw drive. The bearing surface is typically a polymer that tends to be self lubricating. Advantages of this technology over rolling elements include lower profiles, compact size, the ability to handle severe environments, and smooth, quiet linear motion.
